Corporation for National and Community Service -- offers volunteer possibilities at a number
of federal organizations, including the Corporation for National Service, AmeriCorps,
Senior Corps, Learn and Serve America, and America Reads.

Global Volunteers -- a private non-profit, non-sectarian development
organization, Global Volunteers was founded in 1984 with the goal of helping to
establish a foundation for peace through mutual international understanding. Its
programs center around a one-, two-, or three-week volunteer work experience in
Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Pacific, Europe, or the United States.
GuideStar -- a national database of
more than 850,000 non-profit organizations. Search for non-profits by name, keyword, location, and
category. A good resource for job-seekers considering a non-profit organization. Free.
Habitat for Humanity International -- offers many ways people can get involved in
an organization that is at work in every
state of the United States and in 59 other
countries around the world trying to eliminate poverty housing.
Humana People to People -- a volunteering site
for job-seekers who are looking to make a difference in improving the living conditions for people
living in the poorest nations of the world. Volunteer to become a development instructor. Free to job-seekers.
Idealist -- search for volunteer opportunities in 15,000 organizations in
130 countries Idealist serves as a clearinghouse for organizations - whether they

InterAction -- offers resources that are useful to people seeking paid or volunteer
positions -- in the US and abroad -- with international relief and development agencies.
The American Council for Voluntary International Action is the nation’s largest coalition of

Peace Corps -- tens of thousands of people have served as volunteers since
1961, helping change and improve the human condition at
the grassroots level. The Peace Crops provides volunteer opportunities teaching children the basics of math,
science, and English; working with a community to protect the local
environment; and helping people stay healthy, expand their businesses, or grow more
nutritious food.
Rainforest Action Network (RAN) -- since its founding in 1985, the RAN
has been working to protect tropical rainforests and the human rights of those
living in and around those forests. From the beginning, the Network has played a key
role in strengthening the worldwide rainforest conservation movement through supporting activists in tropical
countries as well as organizing and mobilizing consumers and community action groups
throughout the United States.
Save the Children --
committed to serving children and families in need in 15

Teach for America -- where interested individuals can find out about joining this
teaching corps, which places members in 13 sites around the U.S. to teach in

understanding and supporting communities in need, partnered with the International Cultural

Volunteers of America -- where you can learn about volunteering opportunities
in designing and operating programs that deal with today's most pressing social
problems -- from rural America to inner-city neighborhoods.
WWOOF: World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms --
a great volunteering site for people looking to volunteer on organic farms around the world.
Browse for opportunities that most interest you and then make direct contact to arrange a

Youth Changing the World (YSA) --
improves communities by increasing the number and the diversity of young people, ages 5-25,
serving in substantive roles, engaging children and youth as volunteers, as academic
achievers, and as community leaders.
Youth for Understanding -- a non-profit educational organization that offers
