The Invited Cover Letter:

The Invited Cover Letter is one written in response to an advertised employer job opening, whether in a newspaper or trade publication, or on a job board or on the company's career center site.

The primary advantage of the invited cover letter is that the employer wants and welcomes it, but job-seekers should take care not to be too dependent on job ads, since, as we have seen, few real job vacancies are advertised... many more jobs are filled through networking.
