More Ways to Make the Employer Sit up and Take Notice: Bulleted Cover Letter Example

Note how effective the bulleted paragraph is in this excellent letter:

Dear Ms. Queenleigh:

My strong computer skills and my educational background in accounting align extremely well with the requirements of the staff accountant job your corporation has posted on your company's career center.

When I came across this ad I knew that I was the accountant for the job. I will receive a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from Eastern Washington University in December. Throughout my academic career, I have concentrated on my study of accounting. I took my first accounting course my junior year in high school, and ever since that time accounting has been my chosen career field. I would now like to draw on my abilities as a professional in this field.

I have gained experience working for Bozeman Accounting Service as a bookkeeper. The skills I have developed during the last three summers of employment with Bozeman include:
  • An understanding of payroll and sales tax computation.
  • The ability to prepare schedules needed for client tax returns.
  • Working skills in using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • The ability to reconcile client bank statements.

I am confident that my experience and enthusiasm for doing quality financial accounting would be a profitable addition to your organization. I will contact you in 10 days to arrange an interview. Should you require any additional information, I can be contacted at 509/555-6685.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
