If you wanted to launch a targeted cold e-mail campaign in which you sent
your resume to employers, what would be the best day to do it?
Steven Rothberg of CollegeRecruiter.com recently reported his findings
for the opposite kind of campaign -- a targeted campaign to job-seekers.
He noted that the best day and time were Wednesday afternoons,
followed by Mondays. He observes that what works for some clients
doesn't work for others. But could it be that Wednesday afternoons
are the best time to target employers? Try it and see, but follow
Rothberg's advice to keep experimenting to find the time you get
the best response from employers.
Friday, February 1, 2008, marks the kick-off of Job Shadowing 2008. Starting on that day, countless working professionals will see
their "student shadows" as part of Job Shadowing 2008. Now in its 11th year, this year-round effort engages thousands of
employers in an initiative that introduces an estimated million students to the world of work over the next 12 months.
Job shadowing enriches the lives of students by acquainting them with the world of work through on-the-job experiences
and a carefully crafted school curriculum that ties academics to the workplace. The effort helps young people understand
how what they learn in the classroom leads to success in the workplace. National job shadowing is a coordinated
effort of Junior Achievement, America's Promise - The Alliance for Youth, the U.S. Department of Education, and the U.S.
Department of Labor. National partners include the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Association for Career
and Technical Education (ACTE). For more information,
