Teen Job-Search Tutorial:
Expert Tools for High School Students

Using Resumes #4: Evidence of Good Work Ethic

Teen job-seekers don't need a lot of previous work experience on your resumes, but employers DO want to see evidence of a good work ethic.

As with any job-seeker, employers want your resume to show evidence that you are responsible and have a good work ethic.

Some high school students who sit down to start writing their resume struggle because they have very little previous work experience -- and thus feel they have little to put on their resume.

Employers don't expect to see a lot of work experience on a teen's resume, but they do expect to see that you have experience in volunteering, doing community service, participation on a sports team, and leadership in a school club or organization. Good grades are also used as a measure of a good work ethic.
