Teen Job-Search Tutorial:
Expert Tools for High School Students

Preparing for Job Interviews #1: Plan for Questions You Might be Asked

One of the best things you can do to help yourself for your next job interview is to prepare answers for the most common interview questions.

While you don't want to memorize or overly rehearse your responses, your strategy should involve thinking about your responses and jotting down some notes to help you remember what you want to say.

Expect questions such as:
  • Why are you looking for a job?
  • Why do you want to work here?
  • What is your favorite subject in school -- and why?
  • Why should I hire you?
  • Are you willing to work odd hours and on weekends?
  • What would your teachers say about you?
  • Why should I hire you over the other students who submitted an application?
  • What's your greatest strength? Greatest weakness?
