Bad nonverbals to avoid in the interview.
While not truly a nonverbal behavior, pause words -- such as like, you know, um, uh, ah -- are to be avoided. The best way to remove them from your interview responses is to practice -- and practice some more.
Other nonverbal behaviors to avoid:
- Chewing gum
- Wringing your hands, or constantly moving them around
- Fidgeting in your chair
- Playing with your hair, touching your face
- Excessive sweating
It takes some practice, but you can learn to avoid BAD nonverbal behaviors.
