Whether we do so on purpose -- our badge of dishonor from being laid off -- or whether it is unintentional, we often isolate ourselves while we rebound from a layoff. Don't do it!

 

Make a goal of having at least one lunch and one coffee meeting with friends, associates, etc. Perhaps use these as rewards for achieving some of your weekly job-search goals -- but whatever your reasons, just do it.

 

While you are out of work, you need to make the effort to stay connected to the outside world, to have a little fun, and perhaps find a job lead or two in the process.
