If you have never written a resume or have not updated your resume in a while -- take a spin on another of our tutorials, the Resume Tutorials for All Job-Seekers. If you are looking for information about other types of resumes -- then you should take a look at some of the information and links at Quintessential Careers: Resume Resources.

Cover Letter Resources to Get You Started on Cover Letters While you may have never written a cover letter, be assured that your cover letter is a key marketing tool -- and you need to be sure that you are writing a dynamic cover letter that attracts the interest of potential employers. Learn more about writing a dynamic cover letter by checking out Quintessential Careers: Cover Letter Resources.

Obtain Key Critiques of Your Job-Search Resume(s) and Cover Letters

Because the evaluation of resumes and cover letters are so subjective, your best bet is to show your drafts to as many people as possible -- family, professors, career experts, former employers, etc. -- and ask for their feedback so you can improve these documents.

Post Your Resume on Internet Job Boards and Company Career Sites

There are numerous opportunities to have your resume seen that you should at least take advantage of some of these resources, but be protective of your privacy and take caution to avoid job scams. We'll stress this later, but it's worth mentioning here: Limit your online job-hunting time; job boards should be just a very SMALL part of your job-hunting activities. (More on this topic in tutorial step #7.)

Consider Developing a Career Portfolio

A portfolio of your work and credentials -- whether in the traditional printed form or published on a Website -- shows prospective employers prrof of your work and lends credibility to your resume. Read more abour portfolios in this section of Quintessential Careers: Career Portfolio Tools and Resources for Job-Seekers.
