Does it really matter when job-seekers are just a few minutes late to the interview?

Most surveys of hiring managers reveal that if you're even a few minutes late, you're usually eliminated.

Always strive to get to an interview early -- about 15-20 minutes early -- thus protecting yourself from unexpected delays.

By arriving early, you demonstrate that you respect the employer's time -- and you demonstrate that you can show up to work on time.

Getting to an interview a bit early also allows you time to collect your thoughts, perhaps use the restroom, and casually observe people (and the corporate culture) while waiting for the interview to begin.

If there is some major emergency or accident, contact the employer as soon as possible to explain -- and hopefully reschedule the interview.
