Writing holds a universal power that seems almost limitless to me, which has led me to pursue a career as both a writer and teacher. Given the opportunity to be part of the New York University Master's of Creative Writing program, I will enhance all aspects of my writing abilities. With my own skills thus bolstered, I will then pass on my honed knowledge and expertise to others as a writing instructor.

I incorporate my passion for writing into a broad, varied spectrum of my daily life. As a radio producer I constantly write scripts for various national shows. I am also a freelance journalist and love engaging readers through the topics I write about. Outside of work, my passion for poetry leads me to jot down ideas and verses whenever inspiration strikes, whether while surveying a sink full of dirty dishes or marveling at fall foliage outside of my apartment.

Courses such as "Poetry for Prose Writing" and "Seminar on Teaching Creative Writing" will cater to my short- and long-term goals by helping me sharpen skills I have already cultivated and aspire to use in both creating my own works and educating future writers. The variety of courses offered in NYU's program will undoubtedly open my eyes to areas of creative writing that I have yet to fully explore. I am excited to expand my understanding of this powerful, diverse field while living in a city that will surely provide endless ideas for poems, stories, and articles.

New York University's impressive course variety, extraordinary faculty, and commitment to providing professionals with diverse opportunities to enhance their writing skills all strongly motivate me to seek admission to the creative writing program. I am driven by not only my passion for writing, but also a keen desire to ultimately share my love of writing with students.
