Under the leadership of prominent Georgia Baptist leader Jesse Mercer, Mercer University was founded in Penfield, Ga., in 1833 and later moved to Macon, Ga. in 1871. The Macon area is Georgia's third largest metropolitan area and is located one hour south of Atlanta. From its humble beginnings as a small liberal arts college, Mercer is now the only independent university of its size in the country that combines programs in nine diversified fields of study: liberal arts, business, engineering, education, nursing, law, medicine, pharmacy, theology.     Allen London, Vice President for University Admissions
    Allen London oversees all aspects of admissions and recruitment for undergraduate students including strategic marketing, merit scholarships, and the coordination & supervision of the recruiting staff. He joined Mercer in 1992 where he has held a variety of positions with both the Admissions and Advancement offices. He holds a M.Ed. in higher education from Vanderbilt University. He is a member of the National and Southern Associations of College Admission Counseling and serves on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Education Articulation Commission. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Downtown Macon and serves as Brotherhood President at Highland Hills Baptist Church.

     

    He enjoys working in the yard, playing golf, singing in the church choir and spending time with his wife, Eve, and their newborn son, Shaw.
