The marketing mix is perhaps one of the most well known terms about marketing. It is sometimes referred to as the 4 P's.

The marketing mix elements are the controllable factors that are used to achieve the organization’s objectives -- or as it relates to job-seekers, the controllable factors that are used to achieve your job search success -- and includes the product, promotion, price, and distribution (place).

You control your marketing mix:

• product -- YOU, including your brand positioning statement
• promotion -- job-search communications, including cover letters, resumes, interviewing
• price -- what you are worth, including salary and benefits
• place -- job-search strategy and network of contacts
