A History of Quintessential Careers
Comprehensive Job-Hunting and Career Guide

Your Job Search Starts Here... at the Most Comprehensive Career Development Site on the Web!

Quintessential Careers is one of the oldest and most comprehensive career development sites on the Web. It first went online in November 1996. Throughout these 15 years, the mission of the site has remained the same: to provide as much free and expert information and resources for students and job-seekers to aid them in their quest for career direction or a new job. The goal of this site is providing job-seekers all of types -- teens, college students, minorities, women, older workers ... all job-seekers -- with the best resources on the Web -- to empower their career development.

Our brand promise to you: Quintessential Careers: Your career site. Today. Tomorrow. Always.

Founder Dr. Randall Hansen has been identified as one of a select few of "trailblazers who have made the Web an essential job search tool" and whose "early vision brought critically needed organization, creativity and discipline to the untamed Internet." From William E. Montag in Resume Guide for $100,000+ Executive Jobs (Wiley).

Quintessential Careers was first hosted on a university Webserver, partly because the Webmaster was a professor at the time, and partly because the main focus at the time of founding was on helping new college graduates find employment. At the time it was called the Quintessential Career and Job-Hunting Resources Guide.

But the mission soon expanded to include all people looking for career direction or jobs. Thus, resources were added for adult job-seekers; teens looking for part-time work, college information, or career information; and special classes of job-seekers that have had to face barriers, including women and other minorities.

And resources have continually been added -- and will continue to be added -- on all aspects of job-hunting, from cover letters and resumes, to networking, to interviewing, to salary negotiation, and all other career, job, and college topics. Where there is information job-seekers need, the mission of this site is to find it and report it on the site.
