Assessing yourself has likely produced a list of careers and occupations to consider. Before you can choose the right one, you need to know more about them – what training is needed, what a typical day is like, the salary and growth potential, industry trends, and more. Lots of avenues are available on the Internet for exploring specific careers, occupations, and industries; in fact, this type of research is an area in which the Internet particularly shines. Following are some excellent resources:

Career Exploration Links includes occupational information about numerous career fields.

Although offering a limited number of careers, the Careers in Business at Ohio State University provides an awesome collection of information and trends about these selected career fields.

WetFeet.com offers information on numerous industries and careers.

Vault.com provides a selection of industry profiles.

The Occupational Outlook Handbook, published by the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics, is an invaluable guide to careers. Search the handbook or go directly to the handbook's main page.

O’NET ONLINE offers search by occupation, by skills, by related occupations, snapshot (important features), or details. You can also access the Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT) online.

And, of course, Quintessential Careers has a section specifically on Career Exploration Resources.
