Career-Oriented Website Adds New Features as it Begins Third Year on the Internet

(Stetson University, DeLand, FL) -- A career-oriented Website that offers a comprehensive overview of the job-hunting process and provides links to hundreds of job sites has added several new features in celebration of beginning its third year on the Internet. The Quintessential Career and Job-Hunting Resources Guide has added several new guides and tutorials for job-seekers, including: Networking Your Way to a New Job; A Guide to Researching Companies; Volunteering Resources; an Informational Interviewing Tutorial; and a Salary Negotiation Tutorial.

This site is a "must see for anyone in the market for a new job," states Robin Nobles in her review of the site for WEBster, an online magazine covering the World Wide Web. "If you want information and links for general job hunting, or places where you can post your resume and do job searches, this is where you need to be. So, if it's career or job-related resources you're after, this Web site is your one-stop place for everything," continues Nobles. Adds Dan Kennedy, who was looking for information about career choices: "It's the best site I've seen for this subject. It's what I've been looking for. Thank you very much!"

"This is a wonderful compilation of Web resources for resume, cover letter, and interviewing information," says Alyce M. Mass, a career counselor at Montana State University-Bozeman. "So many of them are really helpful to that job-seekers who needs some advice and some reassurance about the world of work. I am a career counselor at one of Montana's public universities and will certainly direct students to use your Website," says Mass, whose university offers a link from its Office of Career Services to the Quintessential Career and Job-Hunting Resources Guide.

"It was a fairly comprehensive site before these anniversary additions, says Dr. Randall S. Hansen, creator of the Website, noted author, and associate professor of marketing at Stetson University, DeLand, Florida. "But I'm always listening to my visitors and looking for ways to improve the site. Besides the new anniversary additions, I've also added sections on diversity resources for women and minorities, an article on scannable resumes, and a cover letter tutorial in the past year."

"This job-seeking guide ... doesn't stop by merely guiding you to the best online employment resources -- it shows you how to really make use of them," says the review in NBNSOFT, an electronic journal that reviews Websites, in announcing the presentation of an award to Hansen's site. Hansen states that other resources available at his career site include a guide to job-hunting on the Internet, a discussion of the domino effect, a test of marketability, a list of action verbs for use in cover letters and resumes, resources for writing cover letters and resumes, as well as resources for developing better interviewing techniques. "And, of course, the site has hundreds of links to Web sites where job-seekers can post their resumes and/or search job databases," Hansen states.

"You will find well-written and detailed advice on each step of the job-hunting process from evaluating your marketability, to writing a good cover letter, to writing a resume, interviewing, and finally locating a dream job," remarks the review of Prentice-Hall's Learning on the Internet Partnership. "Start at the top and work your way down -- you should have a job by the time you reach the end."

Hansen, co-author with his wife, Katharine, of Dynamic Cover Letters, developed his career site more than two years ago, focusing on college students and recent college grads, but has seen his site grow to include resources for all types of job-seekers. The site has received more than 100 honors and awards from the Internet community, and is linked to by more than 300 colleges, high schools, and community libraries, and received an average of more than 16,000 hits a month. "This site has something for everyone, whether looking for a job, searching for a career, or deciding about college," says Hansen. "It's comprehensive and a valuable tool."
